Known problems

This chapter lists all the known problems identified on eConf software.

Your correspondant calls you but you can't pick-up

When you are set in 'manual pick-up' mode, and that your correspondant calls you while you are lauching eConf, you cannot pickup the call.

An error message appears once the communication is established

If you've got another audio or video application launched at the same time as eConf, it is posible that an 'error codec control' message appears when you establish a communication with your correpondant.

Display problem with the video set in large format (CIF)

With some graphic cards, when the correspondant has ticked the option ''issue video in large format'' in the call tab, the video recieved is not displayed in eConf's window, so you have to be in large format video mode to be able to see your correspondant.

Video display enlarged on a quarter of the window

It is possible that when you are in 'large video format', the video recieved won't stretch correctly and is only displayed on a quarter of the window. This happens with the following chipsets or graphic cards:

This problem can also happen when microsoft's NetMeeting software is launched at the same time as eConf, for instance when you use the 'application sharing' mode.

GUI display problem following a modification of screen resolution.

It is advised not to modify your screen resolution once you have launched the eConf software. This causes display problems with the GUI and the video if you are in communication.

Interaction problems with other applications

You can launch other applications at the same timeas the eConf software as long as they are not audio, video or H323 applications. Indeed if it's the case, there can be interaction problems between econf software and this kind of application.

• Interaction with Netmeeting

• If Netmeeting, microsoft's video- conferencing software, is launched before eConf is implemented for the first time, the latter will make sure you quit NetMeeting beforehand. However, you can check that no task named "conf.exe" is being executed on the PC. If it's the case, you can quit NetMeeting (through the task manager if the case arises).

• Interaction with pcAnywhere

• If PCAnywhere is implemented on your machine and that you notice a crash during eConf's starting, you must check that the module 'pupil' has not started as a service. If it's the case, you must stop it, and set it so that it is no longer launched in 'service' mode.

• Interaction with Windows relooking software windows

• It is not advised to use window's relooking window software at the sale time as eConf. In this case, the Black Stone interface, appears surrounde by a frame.

Problem of excessive CPU consumption with the Pentium 4 processor

if your PC is equipped with an Intel Pentium 4 processor, you could have an excessive CPU consumption on your machine, when you click on the button 'cut off your speaker'.

Problems of video issue after extened use of econf

Please check that you possess the latest driver version of the camera. You could have video issuing problems after using for a long time your aquisition card or your Webcam ( black local video and nothing is transmitted to the correspondant).

Zoom problem with Philips ToUCam Funandt Pro webcams

You can have zoom problems with these webcams . It is due to a setting in the register base. The following patches correct this problem for each diffrent camera, but for ToUCam Fun a black frame appears.

To install these patches, you just have to download them on to your machine and double click on the file.

Interworking problem eConf - Equipment Polycom / ViewStation FX

eConf can use an advanced video codec (H263+) which is not correctly managed by the Polycom equipment. In order to have some calls between eConf and this kind of equipement, you must disable the use of the H263+ codec in eConf.

Check the following points :

• After Quiting eConf, launch the registry editor ('regedit') and put at the value 1 the 'AvancePanel' key which is under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\France Telecom\&Conf\Player\cpl',
• Start again eConf, and disable the 'H263+' box in the 'Advanced Settings' tab of eConf control panel.
